- Accessibility
The Toronto Police Service is committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience.
We are actively working towards achieving a fully accessible website that would conform to the World Wide Web Consortium(W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 at Level AA, as mandated by the Government of Ontario Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) Integrated Accessilbity Standards. We are continuing to work with an external auditor to ensure the website is compliant with accessiblity standards.
While we are working towards achieving a fully accessible website, there will be legacy documents and pages developed previously or by third-parties that are not compliant.
Known Issues:
There are third-party applications in use as part of the overall website experience.
Multmedia: Videos are displayed using Youtube. This can lead to issues for screen readers in navigation.
Job Applications: There is a third-party application in place to apply for jobs that may not work with screen readers. Anyone trying to apply can reach out to 416-808-5646.
Filing a report: There is a third-party application in place to file police reports online that may not work with screen readers. Anyone having difficulty doing so can make a report at 416-808-2222.
Maps & Data: Our open data and mapping portal uses the Mircrosoft BI and Esri platforms, which may have issues in accessing via screen readers.
Any feedback regarding the website or requests to access information in an accessible format, can be sent to Toronto Police Service Corporate Communications.
In the Resources section below, please take note of our AODA Customer Service Plan and a 2016-2021 Multi-Year Accessibility Plan.
All Service members have completed the Customer Service, General Requirements, Information & Communications & Employment training modules provided by Access Forward (Select members also completed Design of Public Spaces).
