Ontario Police Memorial
The Ontario Police Memorial Ceremony of Remembrance will take place at Queen’s Park on Sunday, May 1 at 11 a.m.
This is the first time in two years that that the event will take place in person since COVID-19 pandemic restrictions were imposed in March 2020.
“Given the fact that we have not been able to meet in person for two years, I think it is important to recommit ourselves to honouring our fallen by attending in person,” said Ontario Police Memorial Foundation President Jason Tomlinson. “Getting a large number of officers from across the province out is important and it demonstrates our commitment and dedication to supporting the families of the fallen as well as honouring those brothers and sisters who are on the wall.”
Since 2000, police officers from across the province have gathered in Toronto to honour officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
52 Division Detective-Constable Jeffrey Northrup's name will be added to the memorial this year. The officer was killed responding to a call in July 2021.
