The Toronto Police Service is informing the public of a manslaughter investigation. 

On Friday, January 20, 2023 at 11:39 a.m., police received a call for an assault in the Yonge Street and King Street East area. 

It is alleged that:

• the victim was walking on the sidewalk
• the victim was pushed by the accused and fell to the ground
• the accused fled the area prior to police arrival
• the 89-year old female victim was later pronounced deceased at the scene

Ryan Cunneen, 37, of Toronto, had his charges upgraded to:

1. Manslaughter

He will attend court on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at College Park Courts, in room 501 at 10 a.m.

The Homicide and Missing Persons Unit have taken carriage of the investigation and this is now listed as Homicide #2/2023.

The victim has been identified as a 89-year old female. Steps are being taken to notify next-of-kin.
