Conclusion of Toronto Police Service Second Annual Youth Driving Program, in Co-operation with The Children’s Breakfast Clubs

The Toronto Police Service is pleased to announce the conclusion of the second cohort of the G1 Youth Driving Program.

Thanks to the continued relationship with The Children’s Breakfast Clubs (TCBC), this collaboration made a significant impact on 11 Westview Centennial Secondary School students.

These students have been supported and mentored while learning to become safe drivers as they prepare for the G1 driver's test.

Each week brought new learning opportunities and hands-on experiences. Students heard from speakers, included representatives from MADD Canada, and were able to experience impaired driving through fatal vision goggles. Students received instruction from a not-for-profit organization called Teens Learn to Drive (TL2D).  Members of the Service provided information on dangers of impaired driving; stunt driving; vehicle maintenance and other safety components.

31 Division will host the sixth and final in-person session and graduation where students will receive their certificate of completion on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at 10 a.m.

The TCBC funded this initiative and has been providing the children and youth in the community with healthy meals, education, winter clothing, prom, graduation clothing, and cultural and recreational activities for more than 30 years.

This program is aligned with the City of Toronto’s Vision Zero Road Safety Plan, a comprehensive action plan supported by the Toronto Police Service that focuses on reducing traffic-related fatalities and serious injuries on Toronto’s streets to ZERO.
