Man Arrested in Retail Robbery Investigation,
Finch Avenue West and Kipling Avenue area

The Toronto Police Service is making the public aware of an arrest made in a Retail Robbery investigation.

On Wednesday, February 14, and Saturday, May 4, 2024, police responded to two robberies in the Finch Avenue West and Kipling Avenue area.

It is alleged that in each incident:

  • the suspect entered a business wearing a mask to disguise his identity
  • the suspect produced a knife and made a demand for cash
  • the suspect walked behind the counter and took a quantity of cash from the register
  • the suspect then fled the area on foot

Members of the Hold Up Squad commenced an investigation and were able to identify the suspect.

On Monday, May 27, 2024, members of the Hold Up Squad located and arrested the suspect.

With the assistance of 23 Division’s Major Crime Unit, members then executed a Criminal Code Search Warrant in relation to the investigation.

It is further alleged that:

  • at the time of the search, officers recovered the knife used in the robberies and other items of evidentiary value related to the investigation

Darrol Hippolyte, 30, of Mississauga, was charged with:

  1. two counts of Robbery With Offensive Weapon
  2. two counts of Disguise With Intent

He was scheduled to appear at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre, 2201 Finch Avenue West on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at 10 a.m., in Room 107.
