Arrest in Child Exploit Case
Toronto Police investigators have made an arrest in connection with an ongoing sexual assault and child exploitation investigation
In December 2022, Thunder Bay Provincial Strategy members alerted Toronto investigators to a luring and sexual assault investigation involving a young person.
At a press conference at police headquarters on March 1, Detective Vijay Shetty said a suspect was identified on February 7 and investigators conducted a search warrant at a Toronto address.
“Several electronic devices were seized from the address, allegedly containing evidence connected to the luring and sexual assault incident in Thunder Bay, along with a large quantity of sexual assault materials,” he said.
That same day, Toronto Police Internet Child Exploitation members arrested 31-year-old Daniel Langdon, of Toronto.
Further search warrants led to additional devices and information allegedly containing child abuse material along with evidence of further sexual offences that took place online and in person.
Shetty said an alleged incident involved a seven-year-old victim who was sexually assaulted at a Toronto Park.
Langdon is facing 96 sexual offences charges, including 39 sexual assault and 39 sexual interference in relation to multiple victims, ranging in age from seven to 17.
It is believed these offences took place between April 2021 and February 2023.
“It is further alleged the accused utilized several user names and email addresses on various social media platforms and, in some cases, altered his image to appear younger,” Shetty said.
He noted that the investigation is ongoing and police believe there are further victims.
“We know that coming forward isn’t always easy, but we are asking anyone who may have interacted with the accused or who has any information to please contact police,” Shetty said.
