Arrest in child pornography investigation

22 Division
A Toronto man has been arrested and charged in a child pornography investigation by the Toronto Police Service Sex Crimes Child Exploitation section.

It is alleged that James “Jim” Vanderberg, 57, of Toronto was responsible for luring a child over the internet, as well as making, accessing, possessing and making available child pornography over the internet.

Toronto police were tipped off, six months ago by the RCMP, through a complaint forwarded to them by the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) an American organisation, which was initially informed by an American internet service provider about Vanderberg’s alleged activities. According to Detective Constable Scott McQuoid, of Sex Crimes Child Exploitation, several reports were received over a period of six months, with an arrest made on Wednesday, July 23.
