Arrest in Lunchtime Bandit Case
Tips from the public led to the arrest of a man wanted in connection with five bank robberies in a one-month span recently.
Michael Lilly, 20, of Toronto was arrested on January 10 and charged with five counts of robbery.
It’s alleged that he robbed five banks on November 21, 22 and 28 and December 1 and 17. The banks are located on Yonge St. between Lawrence and Davisville Aves.
Staff Inspector Mike Earl held a news conference at police headquarters on December 20.
“Soon after that conference was aired, we started to receive tips from the public,” said Earl. “They were extremely helpful in helping us identify him.”
Lilly turned himself into 53 Division and was charged. He made a court appearance a few hours later.
