A homicide suspect was arrested just over 24 hours after police released his image at a press conference at police headquarters on October 12.

Accompanied by a lawyer, Amal Jones, 19, surrendered to police at 42 Division. Charged with second-degree murder, he made a court appearance on October 15.

On October 3 at around 1.30 p.m., 42 Division officers responded to a shooting at a shopping plaza at the corner ofSheppard Ave. E. and Bonis Ave.

When they arrived, they found a man lying on the ground in the parking lot suffering from gunshot wounds.

Elliott Reid-Doyle, 18, succumbed to his injuries.

Det. Leslie Dunkley said there was a brief interaction between the suspect and victim before the shooting.
