Covenant House Donation

Sex Crimes investigators made a donation to Covenant House recently, recognizing them as a vital partner in helping victims.

"Certainly from a human trafficking perspective they have helped us tremendously," Det. Paul Krawczyk said. "These are very difficult investigations. Certainly from assisting us with the victims and making sure we get the cases to court, we couldn't do it without Covenant House."

Over $1,300 was raised at a silent auction at their spring conference attended by Sex Crimes investigators from other jurisdictions.

Covenant House provides emergency shelter and a wide range of support services to help young people gain independence and overcome obstacles presented by addictions, mental health, abuse or lack of income. Sex Crimes investigators refer victims to Covenant House in order for them to escape the sex trade that they have been forced into.

Covenant House Executive Director Bruce Rivers said the money will go to support services at Covenant House, noting a recent expansion.

"We really appreciate the partnership," Rivers said, saying it is vital for the social services agency to work alongside police.
