Draper Leads Movember Charge
Led by Draper - the famously moustachioed Mounted Unit Clydesdale, who is turning heads as the face of the TPS campaign this year - the campaign has drawn attention to the cause of men's health and mental health that is the focus of Movember.
During the course of the campaign, Draper appeared live on several TV news and radio segments, and interacted with thousands of Torontonians out on the streets during the campaign.
Training Sergeant Kris McCarthy said the horse’s naturally grown mustache was a great conversation starter to benefit the campaign.
"I would like to say thanks to all the TPS members, families, and the public for their support for this year's Movember campaign. Draper is a particularly special horse with one heck of a moustache. It was very apparent that his epic moustache was a crowd pleaser and was a great ice breaker to opening up the lines of communication,” he said.
Donations close on December 9, at 5 p.m. If you’d like to still donate visit the Movember Follicle Force fundraising webpage as the team hopes to beat out Toronto Fire.
Team Captain Staff Sergeant Scott Bradbury said the 2021 campaign has been a "massive, runaway success, if you'll pardon the pun!".
"We would like to thank all who donated to the Movember campaign, and recognize the great show of teamwork and fundraising by our Movember team, who rallied around Draper. Draper was the cornerstone of the campaign, and he really turned heads and helped raise awareness of the men's health and mental health issues we need to be discussing,” Bradbury said. “We are having a bit of fun, while doing good - and making a difference - one moustache, and one conversation at a time.”
