Firearms, Drugs Seized

Integrated Gun & Gang Task Force
An investigation into people suspected of possessing illicit firearms has resulted in four arrests and the seizure of several high-powered rifles and a significant quantity of ammunition, drugs and cash.

At a news conference at police headquarters on January 17, Inspector Peter Moreira, of the Integrated Gun & Gang Task Force, said the investigation started late last year.

“As it progressed, it became clear that they were allegedly involved in illegal narcotics sale,” he said.

Search warrants executed on January 15, at five residential properties in the city, led to the arrest of 24-year-old Kiarash Parzham, 23-year-old Natasha Gorgan, 33-year-old Javid Samuel of Toronto and Trae Greaves, 21, of Richmond Hill.

Parzham, Gorgan and Samuel face multiple weapon- and drug-related charges, while Greaves faces only drug-related charges.

Police allegedly seized a Tikka T3, Robinson Arms and Anderson AM rifles, a Dagger 12-gauge shotgun, two Glock handguns and a COBRA ENT handgun, along with four over-capacity magazines and 368 rounds of ammunition.

In addition, $45,000 in cash and a nearly $100,000 of drugs – the majority cocaine – were seized.

“Anytime you have this quantity of drugs and firearms, it’s significant,” Moreira said. “Even the removal of one gun is significant to public safety. You add to that over 360 rounds of ammunition, and one could only imagine the havoc that could reap throughout the city.”

Moreira praised the work of the Gun & Gang Task Force street-level enforcement team.

“While the gun and drug seizure is substantial, it represents just one example of the type of work these officers perform, normally unheralded and generally unreported, on a daily basis,” he added. “Their efforts, as evidenced by the display of firearms here, along with the ammunition and drugs, are having a direct impact on community safety in our city.”
