Four Handguns Seized

14 Division

Four firearms have been recovered and 86 charges laid after two men were arrested in a Toronto Police investigation.

It is alleged that a man attempted to gain access to a nightclub in the College and Crawford Sts. area on April 24 while in possession of a firearm. Denied entry, he left with another man and police were called.

While investigating both men near a vehicle, one of them fled on foot and officers located him close to a residence in the area. A firearm was allegedly located close to him.

Two other loaded firearms were located inside a satchel on the roof of a nearby garage.

Police seized the vehicle and obtained a search warrant that resulted in the location of a fourth firearm inside the vehicle and a quantity of Percocet pills.

Police later confirmed the vehicle was stolen.

Joshua Jeffrey-Henry, 25, and Fahad Yonan, 23, both of Toronto, were arrested and charged.

They appeared in court on April 25.

Inspector Tyrone Hilton of 14 Division praised the collaboration of community members, 14 Division officers and Public Safety Response Team members.

“These actions may very well have prevented another senseless act of violence,” he said. “The commitment and dedication by Service members who work diligently in partnership with our community, demonstrates the efforts that are ongoing by the Toronto Police Service in addressing gun violence.

“I am thankful that members of the community came forward, and I am proud of the work done by our members who make positive contributions everyday that enhance community safety and well being.”
