Full House for Recruiting Session
It was a great way to start the New Year with a Toronto Police College auditorium packed with candidates wanting to learn more about joining our organization.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Well, without context or the entire picture those words can be misleading. These photos speak volumes! When we put out a registration post to attend our first GIS session of 2020, we did not expect the respond we got! It was overwhelming to say the least.
In a very short period, over 300 interested candidates registered for the session. Our recruiters had to quickly get into gear and find another location other than our HQ auditorium to host that many people. Thankfully our college was available and able to accommodate the group.
People were lined up outside the doors to get in! We can’t tell you how proud and excited we were to know that that many people had the passion and desire to join our organization. The buzz could be felt in the room and it was fantastic! The questions were thoughtful and on point.
A/Insp. Schertzer was also in attendance and addressed the class. Her encouragement and vision was “If you can see it, you can be it”. As to who we are looking for to comprise our membership, it included those with unique lived experience, those who share our core values and who want to make a difference.
Once the session was over, we were flooded with people wanting to have a couple of minutes with us, so we stay back an extra hour to meet with each of them. We all want to thank each and every one of you who attended. And, we want those who may need a glint of evidence that the enthusiasm for a career in policing is gone, take a second look at the photos, they speak volumes!
