Identifying Body of Woman Found in Park

14 Division
Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a female found deceased in a Toronto park.

In the early hours of June 10, police and ambulance responded to a 9-1-1 unknown trouble call in Trinity-Bellwoods Park.

A female was located who was unresponsive and not breathing. Attempts to revive her were unsuccessful.

At a press conference on June 24, Det. Mary Vruna of the Missing Persons Unit said the woman was located on a sleeping bag on the grass area of the park in the vicinity of Dundas St. W. and Shaw St.

“The days preceding June 10 were quite warm and many people had taken advantage on being outdoors,” she said. “I am asking that anyone that may have had interaction with her and may have had a conversation where she may have given a name, whether it’s a first name or a nickname, to call police.”

Vruna said the female’s lifestyle circumstances are unknown at this time.

“She may have been recently transient from another city or another possible scenario could be that she was confused, disoriented thus leaving her home going unnoticed,” she noted. “I ask that people check their neighbours, tenants, friends that live alone or persons that you have not seen for a while.”

In cooperation with the Coroner’s office and assistance from the Ontario Provincial Police, Toronto Police provided an artist rendition and photos of the deceased clothing.

She was wearing Northern Reflection Capri pants and a Tavi International shirt and using a Mountain Warehouse sleeping bag.

“We are not providing any further descriptors of the female as we want people to look solely at the images,” added Vruna. “We want them to avoid any tunnel vision and dismiss anyone they may think of because they feel they may not have the right descriptor features such as age, height and weight.”

Vruna said there is no evidence to suggest that the circumstances are suspicious.
