More Victims Sought to Child Sex Assaults
The Toronto Police Service’s Child Exploitation Section launched the investigation on March 29. On June 12, they executed a criminal code search warrant at the suspect’s residence in the Bathurst St. and Sheppard Ave. W. area.
As a result of evidence found during the search, William Christopher Claveria, 32, was arrested.
At a news conference at police headquarters on July 4, D/Const. Don Bai said videos of the suspect sexually assaulting children were discovered after investigators analyzed seized electronic devices.
“To date, we have identified three children in these videos,” said Bai.
Police believe some of the sexual assaults occurred at the places of worship that Claveria attended.
They are Word & Life Assembly at 500 Coldstream Ave. and Jesus Reigns Forever International Ministry located at 1177 Finch Ave. W.
Claveria has been charged with two counts of possession of child pornography, two counts of access to child pornography, the distribution of child pornography, five counts of sexual assault, five counts of sexual interference, six counts of making child pornography and voyeurism.
Bai said the investigation is ongoing as investigators believe that there may be more victims.
“We are asking anyone who had contact with Mr. Claveria to reach out to us,” he said. “We are especially urging those who attended a place of worship with Mr. Claveria or whose children may have been around him to contact us. We are also encouraging people to assist us in understanding which other places of worship Mr. Claveria may have attended.”
