Rush Hour Blitz Tows 298

That’s the message that Brian Moniz, the A/Officer in charge of the Parking Enforcement Operations, is sending to motorists after 298 vehicles were towed and 1,467 parking tickets issued during a four-day blitz from September 6-9.

The campaign focused in the areas bounded by Bloor Street to Front Street, and Parliament Street to Dufferin Street.

“When we compare the numbers to the same period last year, it’s about a 20 per cent increase in the amount of tickets issued during rush hour,” he said. “There are still some behavioural changes that motorists have to make.”

Mayor John Tory has made clearing rush-hour routes a priority over the course of this year to ensure traffic moves smoothly.

Moniz is urging motorists not to contribute to gridlock during rush hour.

“It’s vital that routes are cleared for vehicles to get in and out of the city,” he added.
