A suspect has been arrested for allegedly kidnapping and forcibly confining a woman. Police believe there may be more victims.

On March 31, the 27-year-old woman, a sex-trade worker, was approached by a man in the Sherbourne & Shuter Sts. area.

“The accused located the victim on the streets and they engaged in a business transaction and then it continued on from there,” said Inspector Joanne Beaven-Desjardin at a news conference at police headquarters on April 7. “She agreed to attend his home in the City of Toronto and when they arrived, she felt uncomfortable and wanted to leave.”

The suspect allegedly produced a handgun, threatened the victim and held her against her will for five days while repeatedly sexually assaulting her.

On Sunday April 5, the victim managed to escape onto the home’s porch where a passerby saw her and contacted police. The man fled the scene before police arrived.

Rejean Perron, 43, has been charged with sexual assault with a weapon, kidnapping, forcible confinement and assault.

Originally from Timmins, Perron has spent time in Chatham and London. He has lived in Toronto for the past decade.

Police believe there may be more victims.

“While we encourage all affected individuals to come forward and report to police, we want to make sure that everyone has access to the support services regardless of their decision to proceed with a criminal investigation,” Beaven-Desjardin said.
