Suspect and Vehicle Sought in Murder
On October 7, at around 11.25 p.m., Shane Stanford was shot in the area of Bathurst St. and Ranee Ave. while on his way home from work – investigators do not believe Stanford was targeted directly.
The 33-year-old man was found behind the wheel of an Acura Sedan that crashed into the side of a home. He suffered a gunshot wound to the back of the head.
On Thursday October 29, police arrested two people in connection with the homicide.
Raheem McLaughlin, 27, was charged with first-degree murder and a 17-year-old girl was charged with accessory after the fact of murder.
A third suspect involved in still outstanding.
At a press conference at police headquarters on January 19, investigators released images of the suspect.
He’s described as male Brown with light complexion in the mid-20s and approximately 5’10” with a thin build. The suspect was wearing a dark coloured jacket, maroon Kappa track pants and black shoes.
Police also released photo and video images of the vehicle that’s connected to the homicide.
Det. Michael McGinn said McLaughlin was the owner.
“It had been in his possession for several months prior to the murder,” he said. “However, it was never registered in his name.”
McGinn said the vehicle was sold within days of the incident.
“We don’t know the person who purchased this vehicle,” he added. “That person may have no knowledge that the vehicle was involved in this event.”
It’s described as a 2005 or 2006 White four-door Infiniti with sunroof, tinted windows, gold-coloured rims and gold trim under the driver and passenger doors. Scratches are located at the rear right bumper of the vehicle.
