Jimmie Simpson Park, 872 Queen St. E, Toronto

Unit:

Case #: n/a

On Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., at Jimmie Simpson Park, Chief of Police Myron Demkiw will join Mayor Olivia Chow, Toronto Police Service Board Chair Shelley Carroll, Toronto Police Association President Clayton Campbell, and Dr. Jose Couto from the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP), to kick off Police Week in Toronto.

Police Week takes place from Sunday, May 10 through Saturday, May 16. In partnership with the Government of Ontario’s Ministry of the Solicitor General and the OACP, police services across the province are encouraged to highlight the importance of police services in achieving safer and healthier communities for everyone. This year's theme is “Protecting Ontario Through Service.” Follow the hashtag #PoliceWeekON on social media.

So far in 2026, the homicide rate in Toronto is the lowest it has been in years, and other community safety indicators continue to trend downward. Police Week is an opportunity for the Toronto Police Service to connect with the public and discuss the initiatives and measures in place to prevent and address crime, so that our communities are, and feel, safe.
