Toronto Police Service Graduates 85 New Police Constables

On Monday, May 25, 2026, at 7 p.m., the Toronto Police College is hosting a graduation ceremony for 85 new Police Constables, the first graduating class of 2026.

The new officers will be presented with their badges by Chief of Police Myron Demkiw in front of friends and family. Chief Demkiw will be joined by Solicitor General Michael Kerzner, Mayor Olivia Chow and Toronto Police Service Board Chair Shelley Carroll to inspect the new officers and deliver remarks. Also attending the ceremony are Deputy Solicitor General, Community Safety, Mario Di Tommaso, Inspector General of Policing of Ontario Ryan Teschner, and members of the Toronto Police Service Board. 

Class 26-01 ranges in age from 20 to 44 years old. 

Of the class, almost 60 per cent speak a language other than English, including French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Greek, Bengali, Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu, Gujrati, Tamil, Arabic, Turkish, Farsi, Cantonese, Korean, Mandarin, German, Polish, Croatian, Ukrainian, Russian, and Somali.

Eight of the recruits have served with Toronto Police as Special Constables. Outside of TPS, recruits from Class 26-01 have a wide range of employment experience, including corrections, education, finance, electrical, plumbing, children’s aid, fitness, and security.
