News Release
Two-Wheel Safety Campaign Begins today Across the City
The Toronto Police Service is launching a Two-Wheel Cyclist and Motorcycle Traffic Safety Campaign focused on protecting vulnerable road users, including cyclists and motorcycle riders.
From Monday, June 1 to Sunday June 7, 2026, Traffic Services will focus on the “Big 4” driver behaviours known to cause injuries to all road users: speeding, aggressive driving, distracted driving, and impaired driving. Education and enfocement focused on two-wheel safety will support rider awareness and promote safer practices.
Whether it's your first time riding a bicycle or motorcycle, or you're planning to ride your favourite routes this season, traffic safety engagement and education are essential to keeping all road users safe.
Between January 1, 2025 and May 26, 2026, 15 motorcycle and bicycle riders lost their lives on Toronto's roads. Of those, 12 were motorcycle drivers, one was a motorcycle passenger, and two were cyclists. Many of these fatalities occurred on arterial roads - wide, signalized streets that carry high volumes of traffic. Speed was a factor in many of the fatalities.
Toronto’s Vision Zero Road Safety Plan acknowledges that collisions may be inevitable, but those that cause fatalities or serious injuries are preventable and unacceptable. We should all be working toward a goal of zero injuries and deaths on our roads.
Road safety is a shared responsibility. Please do your part - together, we can save lives.
