Officers in 31 Division seized two firearms and a large quantity of magazines and cash in two separate arrests on August 4.

"The recent arrests and firearm seizures underscore the critical importance of maintaining a heightened focus on gun violence, alongside the other pressing challenges we continue to face as a Service," said Superintendent Mandeep Mann, the 31 Division Unit Commander. “Our officers consistently demonstrate their commitment to community safety and wellbeing.”

Police responded to a person with a gun call at around 1:16 a.m. in the Jane St. and Finch Ave. W area.

It is alleged a witness saw the suspect, with a firearm in his hand, assaulting the victim by a vehicle. Officers later located the vehicle in the Islington Ave. and Rexdale Blvd. area with two suspects inside.

The accused parties were in possession of illicit drugs, cash an over-capacity magazine and several other types of ammunition.

Members of 31 Division Major Crime Unit executed a number of Criminal Code warrants in Toronto and Brampton.

It is further alleged that police located and seized a firearm, an over-capacity magazine, a large amount of ammunition and nearly $15,000 in cash.

Richard Brewster, 27, of Toronto and Kayla McFarlane, 28, of Brampton, are facing several charges.

Police attended and located the accused nearby. After a foot pursuit, he was arrested and police found a firearm on him.

Harris Baffoe-Boadu, 30, of Toronto, faces several charges, including failing to comply with a release order and unauthorized possession of a firearm.

“Our residents deserve to be safe and secure,” said 31 Division Inspector Jack Gurr. “I could not be prouder of the work our members are doing to apprehend those individuals who feel they can intimidate and cause harm to others in our communities with firearms.”
