Police seize guns and drugs
Toronto Police seized two firearms and a large quantity of drugs in two separate investigations within a 12-hour span in 14 Division on August 16.
At around 8.53 a.m., officers pulled over a vehicle to conduct a traffic stop in the Wellington St. W and Spadina Ave. area.
Observing a strong smell of marijuana coming from the car, four suspects were removed from the vehicle.
Police located marijuana and a Glock handgun in the vehicle.
Two male adults and two youths – all from Brampton – were arrested and charged.
They face several charges, including possession of a loaded firearm.
“The vehicle was pulled over because the license plate was expired,” said Detective Sergeant Bruno Miron. “The registered owner of the vehicle license, who was a passenger, also had an expired driver’s license.”
Later in the day, members of 14 Division’s Major Crime Unit executed a Controlled Drugs and Substance Act search warrant in the King St. W. and Dowling Ave. area.
It is alleged that a Star model F .22 caliber handgun, a firearm suppressor and a magazine with ammunition along with a large quantity of cocaine were located inside the residence.
“The gun was on a bed in plain view,” said Miron.
Toronto residents Aaron Doucette, 35, Deborah Bell, 47, and 41-year-old Anthony Scully are facing firearm and drug possession charges.
“Our officers are committed to keeping the city safe and I want to acknowledge the work they are doing,” added Miron.
