Image of Outstanding Suspect Released
We want to thank members of the public for their outpouring of support following the tragic loss of Constable Marc Pinizzotto.
Constable Pinizzotto was killed in the line of duty this morning while executing a high-risk search warrant as part of a coordinated series of five warrants.
During the incident, a suspect was shot by police and remains in hospital. Nicholas Bennett, 19, of Toronto, will be charged with First Degree Murder in connection with the death of Constable Pinizzotto.
Another individual, Zara Jabbi, 19, remains outstanding. He is wanted in connection with the March shooting at the U.S. Consulate and is considered armed and dangerous. If you see him, do not approach. Call 911 immediately. His image has been released to assist in locating him.
This is a devastating day for our Service and for the family, friends, and colleagues of Constable Pinizzotto.
We recognize there are many questions. Given the ongoing nature of the investigation, there are limits to the information we can provide at this time. We will share further updates as soon as we are able.
Zara Jabbi was a youth at the time this photograph was taken. A court has authorized the Toronto Police Service to publish his identity for a period of five days to assist investigators in locating him. That authorization expires on Monday, June 15, 2026.
