Pool Media Coverage
Members of the media will not be permitted inside the venue.
Rogers, with support from CBC, CTV, GLOBAL and CHCH, will be providing the multiple-camera coverage, including exterior, interior and drone shots. This will be a pool feed for other broadcast media and will include live coverage of both the procession and the service.
The Canadian Press will provide pool photos from inside and outside the TCC. Toronto Police Service and Association photographers will be taking photos on behalf of the Service.
Social media posts will be created from our corporate accounts @TorontoPolice.
A copy of the Order of Service and a background document will be provided to registered media.
Media Staging and Movement
There will be designated media staging areas where accredited media will be permitted to stand (see attached map). When the procession is arriving at the TCC, Media Staging Area #1 will be situated just west and across the street from the main entrance doors of the North Building, just in front of the lawn area.
Following the service, Media Staging Area #2 will be situated on the median directly in front of the south entrance, where the funeral cortege will depart following the service.
The staging areas will be staffed by Media Relations Officers and members of Corporate Communications.
All media who are not part of the pool feed will be required to stay inside the staging area at all times during the procession and again at the conclusion of the service.
While the service is taking place, media can leave the area to file copy or broadcast, etc. Please dress for the weather as there is no cover in the media staging areas.
Media Parking and Arrival Times
Vehicle parking can only be accessed when entering the venue from City View Drive.
A Media Relations Officer will be in the parking lot to direct media trucks and reporters to their designated areas (see map).
A designated area for media trucks will be set up in a parking area across the street from the main entrance, just south of the media staging area #1 (see map). Media trucks must be on-site by 8 a.m.
Media arriving in vehicles other than media trucks can park in the regular parking area, west of the North Building (see map) and are required to be inside the staging area by 9:30 a.m.
Media Pre-Registration Requirements
Media are required to pre-register to access the venue by emailing below. Please ensure you have identification that indicates you are a member of an accredited media outlet. Officers will be checking identification at Dixon Road and City View Drive.
Please email both to register:
Please confirm your attendance, your media outlet, how many staff are attending, and what equipment you will be bringing (how many cameras). Due to limited space, we ask that only one reporter attends on behalf of your specific media outlet.
