Man Arrested in Arson Investigation,
Durham Region

The Toronto Police Service is making the public aware of an arrest made in an Arson investigation.

On Monday, August 24, 2026, at approximately 4:19 a.m., officers from the Durham Regional Police Service attended a fire call in the Rossland Road West and Church Street North area. 

It is alleged that:

  • a fire was set to an unoccupied home resulting in destruction of the home
  • as a result of this fire, neighbouring homes suffered significant damage
  • one of the neighbouring residences was occupied at the time, but the residents were able to safely flee the home during the fire
  • multiple other homes were doused in an accelerant but did not ignite

As a result of a joint investigation between the Toronto Police Service and Durham Regional Police Service, investigators were able to identify the suspect.

On Monday, September 28, 2026, Roshvin Crofton, 24, of Ajax, was arrested and charged with.

  1. Possess Property obtained by crime not exceeding $5000
  2. Break and Enter Commit
  3. Two counts of Break and Enter with Intent
  4. Two counts of Arson or Explosion Causing Property Damage
  5. Attempt Arson
  6. Arson or Explosion Disregard for Human Life
  7. Two counts of Mischief Damage to Property Over $5000
  8. Mischief Damage to Property Under $5000
  9. Conspiracy to Commit an Indictable Offence
  10. Possess Incendiary Material for Arson
  11. Breach of Probation

He was scheduled to appear in court at the Ontario Court of Justice, 10 Armoury Street, on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at 9:30 a.m., in room 401.
