The Toronto Police Service is making the public aware of an arrest made in an Aggravated Assault investigation.

On Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at 11:54 a.m., police responded to a call for an Assault Just Occurred in the Dufferin Street and Eglinton Avenue West area.

It is reported that:

• the victim was on a TTC bus traveling westbound on Eglinton Avenue West
• the suspect boarded the same bus at Dufferin Street and sat behind the victim
• the suspect assaulted the victim unprovoked
• the victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries
• the suspect fled the area

Investigators were able to identify the suspect.

On Monday, October 19, 2026, the accused was arrested.

Yetebarek Woldemichael, 45, of no fixed address, has been charged with:

1. Assault with a Weapon
2. Possess Weapon Dangerous to Public Peace
3. Breach of Probation

He is scheduled to appear in court at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre, 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at 9:30 a.m., in room 105.
