Gun Seized After Carjacking
Four males were arrested and an illegal weapon recovered after a gunpoint carjacking in Scarborough on January 26.
Investigators from 43 Division quickly established that the Lamborghini Urus had a tracking device and they were able to track the vehicle to a Pickering neighbourhood.
“Officers from our Major Crime Unit and the Hold Up Squad worked collaboratively on this real time investigation,” said Acting Superintendent Ryan Forde.
When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver proceeded to ram three unmarked police vehicles before losing control and crashing into a telephone pole.
They arrested two male adults and a youth in the Lamborghini without incident. The Honda Civic was used in the carjacking was located on a nearby side street. A male was arrested and a loaded Glock with 10 rounds in the magazine was seized.
“We are very pleased that because of these working relationships, the outcome concluded with three people arrested, two stolen vehicles recovered and a firearm was seized,” Forde said. “Carjackings pose a serious threat and ensuring public safety is a priority for the Toronto Police Service. The community deserves to feel secure in their daily lives, whether driving or parking.”
The accused face several charges, including robbery with a firearm and possession of a loaded firearm.
