Media Officers Scrum Next Gen Journos
Toronto Police Media Relations officers recently helped Humber College Journalism students get some real-life experiences interviewing and scrumming police officers.
“The students get a lot out of these real-life scenarios as do our Media Relations Officers,” said Acting Staff Sergeant Steve Hammond, of the training that keeps media officers sharp and connected to the community. “The sharing of knowledge with these aspiring journalists fosters relationships and goes a long way to building trust.”
This is the second year that Toronto Police Media officers have engaged Humber College Journalism students.
“The students were very engaging and very eager to practice their skills,” said Constable Ashley Visser, who took part in the interviews along with Constable Shannon Eames. “It was a great opportunity for everyone involved.”
