Men Wanted in York and Toronto Murders
Toronto Police is seeking the public’s help in locating an individual who they believe may be responsible for two homicides in the Greater Toronto Area.
On February 7, Chandan Kumar Raja Nandakumar, 37, was shot and killed while sitting in his car at Woodbine Mall.
At a news conference at police headquarters on March 3, Detective Sergeant Sandra Arruda said the victim was a respected member of his community.
“He maintained strong connections with others in the Greater Toronto Area, particularly those from the same region of India,” she pointed out. “Those who knew him describe him as kind, generous and always willing to help others. His loss is deeply felt by his family and friends.”
As a result of the investigation, a Canada-wide warrant has been issued for 19-year-old Isaiah Thomas Badger for First Degree Murder.
He is described as 6’3”, about 117 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He is from Edmonton, Alberta where he is also wanted by police there on outstanding weapons charges.
“Through ongoing information sharing and collaboration between law enforcement agencies, investigators have determined that the individual we allege is responsible for the homicide of Mr. Raja Nandakumar may also be responsible for a homicide in York region,” said Arruda. “This underscores the importance of inter-agency co-operation and why we are standing here today.”
On January 2026, Sergio Lopes, 65, was shot and killed as he was exiting his business in a residential neighborhood near Highway 27 and Langstaff Rd.
A short time later, the suspect’s vehicle was found on fire.
“Mr. Lopes was a respected member of his community, a loving father and husband and his loss was deeply felt,” said Detective Sergeant Jonathan Nauman of York Regional Police Service.
Warrants have been issued for Badger and 19-year-old Jacob Wallace for First Degree Murder and Arson.
“We allege that Mr. Badger is responsible for shooting Mr. Lopes and that Mr. Wallace is responsible for operating the vehicle used to flee to scene of the arson,” Nauman noted.
Wallace is described as 5’6”, about 115 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes and he’s from Mississauga.
Nauman thanked Toronto Police Homicide & Missing Persons Unit for their ongoing collaboration and assistance with the investigation.
Arruda is asking anyone who may have seen Badger or Wallace before or after the incidents or who may have video, dashcam footage or other images of them to contact investigators immediately.
“If you see them, do not approach them. Call 9-1-1,” she said. “We are also appealing to anyone who had contact with Nandakumar in the days leading up to February 7 or who may know what his plans were that afternoon to come forward.”
Arruda also had direct messages for Badger and Wallace and anyone who is helping them evade police.
“We are coming for you,” she added. “Turn yourselves in. Hire a lawyer. If you are helping them evade police, you are committing a criminal offence. You will be investigated, arrested and charged where evidence supports it."
