Two arrested, third suspect wanted in Toronto teen’s fatal shooting

Case #: 2025-1186586

12 Division
Homicide and Missing Persons Unit

Toronto Police have made two arrests and are seeking a third suspect in the killing of a teenager last summer.

On June 9 around 10.30 p.m., Jahkai Jack and some friends went to the area of Buttonwood Ave. and Charlton Settlement Ave. where they met another group.

One male in dark clothing from that group began a verbal exchange with the 15-year-old. The male pulled out a gun and shot the teenager, who later succumbed to his injuries.

Two days ago, Jayden Samuel James, 19, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with Accessory After the Fact to Murder.

Rajveer Gill, 21, of Toronto, was arrested yesterday in British Columbia. He is being returned to Toronto, where he will be charged with Accessory After the Fact to Murder.

Abdul Yeberebaba, 20, of Toronto, is wanted on a Canada-Wide Warrant for Second Degree Murder.

“I said that anyone who helped the person responsible — whether by assisting them in escaping, hiding them or destroying evidence — could face charges for Accessory After the Fact to Murder,” Detective Sergeant Phil Campbell said at a news conference at police headquarters on February 26.

“These two arrests demonstrate that we meant what we said. If you involve yourself after a homicide, if you choose to help someone avoid accountability, you are committing a serious criminal offence. Those actions will be investigated, and if the evidence supports the charges, they will be laid.”

He is appealing to Yeberebaba to do the right thing and turn himself in.

“You know we are looking for you,” pointed out Campbell. “Speak to a lawyer and arrange to surrender. Continuing to evade police will only make your situation worse. To the public, if you know where he is, contact police immediately. Do not assist him in any way.”

The homicide officer said Jack’s family deserves accountability.

“His murder was a completely unprovoked act of violence that devastated his family, his friends and this community,” Campbell added. “That devastation has not gone away. His family continues to live with the unimaginable loss of a child whose life was just beginning.”

Anyone with information can contact Campbell directly at 416-808-1200. If he’s unavailable, they can ask for him and he will return their call. They can also contact Crime Stoppers anonymously.
