Air Support Unit Assists Officers In Rescue of Family Lost in Woods
While out on a late-afternoon hike, a couple and their one-year-old child recently found themselves lost in a dense wooded area of the Rouge Park urban forest, with the sun setting in freezing temperatures. They reached out to police for help, and the Toronto Police Air Support Unit, along with the 9-1-1 radio dispatcher, were able to co-ordinate and direct @TPS42Div officers on the ground - now in total darkness - to locate the family, and guide them to safety. Watch the dramatic rescue, captured live in real-time on the TPS Air Support Unit's RPAS (Remote Piloted Aircraft Systems) aerial drone camera and helicopter thermal cameras.
