#DayofPink Celebrations at Harbord Collegiate with @TorontoPolice & @tdsb

On Wednesday, April 13, 2016, the Toronto Police Service, in partnership with the students and staff at Harbord Collegiate Institute, celebrated International Day of Pink by highlighting student-based initiatives, listening to special guest speakers, and presenting anti-bullying video. Toronto District School Board Vice Chair Jennifer Arp, TDSB Ward 10 Trustee Ausma Malik, TDSB Director of Education John Malloy, Harbord Collegiate Institute Principal Vince Meade, and special guest speakers, Olympian Rosie Cossar and Eugene Melnyk of the Ottawa Senators, joined Chief Mark Saunders, members of the Toronto Police Service’s 14 Division, and the Service’s Lesbian Gay Bisexual Trans Queer (LGBTQ) Internal Support Network to celebrate the initiative, with aim towards bullying prevention and education. Please follow #StopBullyingNow and #DayofPink for more information and details. The International Day of Pink started when a Nova Scotia teen was bullied for wearing a pink shirt to school. His fellow students rallied – by all wearing pink – and showed their solidarity against LGBTQ-based discrimination.
