REALITY CHECK: The Real Consequences Of Distracted & Impaired Driving

SPEED KILLS. SEAT BELTS SAVE LIVES. DISTRACTED OR IMPAIRED, THE DAMAGE IS THE SAME. The Toronto Police Service is concerned about your driving. In almost all fatal auto collisions, one or more of the following factors is present: speed, lack of seat belt use, distraction - particularly by cell phones or other devices - and impairment by drugs or alcohol. The Toronto Police Service has produced this video to remind drivers of all ages of the responsibilities involved when driving, and discusses the very serious - and often fatal - consequences when distraction and impairment interfere with the safe operation of a vehicle. In the video, experts including trauma surgeons, a forensic pathologist, the Deputy Chief Coroner, and police officers, discuss the effects and consequences of impaired and distracted driving, and the irreversible damage to lives this preventable crime is responsible for. The Toronto Police Service would like to remind ALL drivers that "speed kills, seat belts save lives, and whether distracted or impaired, the damage is the same". For more information or DVD copies of the video, please contact Sgt. Shane Stevenson, Toronto Police Traffic Services, 416-808-1985. http://www.torontopolice.on.ca Reality Check: The Real Consequences of Distracted & Impaired Driving (15:00) Produced by the Toronto Police Video Unit with Toronto Police Traffic Services Copyright 2013
