Toronto Police Launch Pride Month by Raising Progress Pride Flag at all Divisions across Toronto

On Thursday June 1, 2023, Toronto Police Service raised the Progress Pride Flag at its public-facing facilities, in support of Pride Month and in solidarity with members of Toronto’s 2SLGBTQ+ communities. The flag will immediately be transitioned to half-mast in honour of OPP Detective Constable Steven Tourangeau. At 51 Division, at Parliament & Front Streets, Superintendent Chris Kirkpatrick of 51 Division and Superintendent LeeAnn Papizewski of Community Partnerships and Engagement were joined by members of the Service and the community, including Sgt. Rob Chevalier, the Service's LGBTQ Liaison Officer, and Sgt. Henry Duck of 51 Division Community Response Unite. The Progress Pride Flag was raised at Toronto Police Headquarters on May 17, 2023 and will remain until the end of June. This event marks the first time the Progress Pride Flag will be flown at all public Toronto Police Service facilities that can accommodate two flags.
