- Conversation with Latin American and Hispanic Communities 2024
Conversation between Toronto Police Service and Latin American and Hispanic Communities 2024
For the first time in many years, Toronto Police Service members, including the RBDC team, the Community Partnerships and Engagement Unit, the Latin American and Hispanic Internal Support Network and Neighbourhood Community Officers, met with leaders from the Latin American and Hispanic communities to discuss the experiences, concerns and challenges facing their communities.
“In working together with our Community Advisory Panel (CAP) we identified some trends in our data,” said Chief Information Officer Colin Stairs. “As a result, a Latina member of the CAP asked for this conversation, which brought TPS and the Latin American and Hispanic communities together. I’d like to thank our CAP member and the Hispanic Canadian Heritage Council that organized this important event and for the productive conversation.”
This first meeting supported open and honest conversations and explored how TPS can better support the community members and work together to initiate a path forward that leads to meaningful and lasting relationships.
