Homicide Investigation,
Steeles Avenue East and Reesor Road area,
UPDATE: Two Arrests Made, One Suspect Remains Outstanding,

The Toronto Police Service is updating the public on arrests made in a Homicide investigation.

On Monday, September 21, 2026, at approximately 11:24 p.m., officers responded to a call for a Fire in the Steeles Avenue East and Reesor Road area.

It is reported that:

  • a vehicle was on fire in a field
  • emergency services responded to the fire
  • the victim was located inside the vehicle
  • the victim was pronounced deceased on scene  

The victim was identified as Marcus Charles, 32.

Investigators have identified three persons involved in the murder of Marcus Charles. A man and a woman have been arrested and charged and one suspect remains outstanding.

Rushon Powell, 25, of Toronto, has been charged with:

  1. First Degree Murder

He was scheduled to appear in court at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre, 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Monday, October 5, 2026, at 9:30 a.m., in room 103.

Shakurwa Jeffrey, 25, of Toronto, has been charged with:

  1. Accessory After the Fact to Murder

She was scheduled to appear in court at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre, 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Monday, October 5, 2026, at 9:30 a.m., in room 106.

The outstanding suspect, Devondre Hall, 25, of Toronto, is wanted on a Canada Wide Warrant for:

  1. First Degree Murder
