Arrests & Outcomes
As part of the Phase 2 of the RBDC Strategy, the Service started collecting the officers’ perceptions of an individual’s race for arrests and arrest outcomes in January 2021. It started analyzing this data in 2023, following its release of Phase 1 RBDC findings.
Learning from Phase 1, the Service initiated an iterative hypothesis-driven approach to data analysis – generate questions with the CAP, our members and external stakeholders, try to answer when there is data available, and report findings in small batches along the way to keep the public engaged throughout the entire journey.
