RBDC Findings
RBDC Strategy is a complex and ongoing initiative that is implementing in phases:
- Phase 1 commenced in January 2020 with the collection of perceived race data for Use of Force and Strip Searches interactions.
- Phase 2 commenced in January 2021 to include arrests and arrest outcomes, mental health apprehensions and youth diversions.
We use an iterative hypothesis-driven approach to data analysis. We work with the CAP, our members, and stakeholder contact groups to ask questions, try to answer as many questions as we can, and lean into the conversation to see what change is possible when questions don’t have data to support an answer. We are regularly sharing the findings in our commitment to greater transparency.
Familiarize yourself with the RBDC Strategy Overview, Glossary of Terms, Interactive Story Map, and RBDC Data Analysis Framework for Racial Equity before you get started, and be sure to see the findings presented in open analytics on our Public Safety Data Portal.
